Zero-Landfill Commitment

At Seattle Pallet Company, we believe every piece of wood has value. Our comprehensive recycling program ensures that damaged or end-of-life pallets never end up in landfills. We're proud to be at the forefront of sustainable pallet management in the Pacific Northwest, setting industry standards for environmental responsibility.

Through repair, repurposing, and material recovery, we keep thousands of pallets in circulation annually, reducing environmental impact while supporting the circular economy. Every pallet we recycle represents reduced demand for virgin timber, lower carbon emissions from manufacturing, and less waste in our landfills.

Our state-of-the-art recycling facility processes pallets of all sizes and conditions, extracting maximum value from every component. From high-quality boards suitable for remanufacturing to wood chips for biomass energy, we ensure nothing goes to waste.

Our Comprehensive Recycling Process

01

Initial Assessment & Sorting

Every pallet is meticulously inspected to determine its optimal recycling path. Our trained technicians evaluate structural integrity, wood quality, and potential for repair or remanufacturing. Pallets are sorted into categories: repairable, remanufacturable, and material recovery.

  • • Visual and structural inspection
  • • Quality grading assessment
  • • Contamination screening
  • • Size and type categorization
02

Disassembly & Component Recovery

Pallets beyond repair are carefully dismantled using specialized equipment. Metal fasteners are removed and sorted for scrap metal recycling. Wooden components are evaluated individually— high-quality boards are cleaned and graded for reuse, while damaged wood moves to chipping operations.

  • • Pneumatic nail removal systems
  • • Board-by-board quality assessment
  • • Metal component sorting and recycling
  • • Contaminated wood segregation
03

Wood Recovery & Processing

Usable boards are cleaned, planed, and sorted by size and quality for remanufacturing into new pallets. Damaged or lower-grade wood is processed through industrial chippers, creating various products including mulch, animal bedding, and biomass fuel. Every piece finds a productive second life.

  • • Board cleaning and preparation
  • • Precision cutting and sizing
  • • Industrial wood chipping
  • • Quality control testing
04

Material Distribution & Partnerships

Recovered materials are distributed to our network of partners throughout the Pacific Northwest. Reusable boards go into our remanufacturing operation. Wood chips supply landscaping companies, farms, and biomass energy facilities. We've built relationships with dozens of businesses to ensure every material finds its ideal application.

  • • Remanufacturing operations
  • • Landscaping supply distribution
  • • Agricultural partnerships
  • • Biomass energy facilities

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of pallets can you recycle?

We recycle wood pallets of most sizes and conditions, including broken units. We also separate repairable pallets from scrap to maximize reuse.

Do you offer pallet buyback as part of recycling?

Yes. Reusable grades are purchased through our buyback program, and irreparable pallets are recycled or ground for reuse.

Is there a minimum quantity for pickup?

For free pickups we typically require 50+ units in the Seattle area. Smaller quantities can be dropped off or scheduled with a service fee.

Do you provide documentation of recycling?

We can issue recycling receipts and diversion summaries so you can report sustainability metrics.

Can you remove mixed stacks of good and bad pallets?

Yes. Our team sorts on-site, separating repairable pallets, buyback grades, and scrap for responsible disposal.

What happens to pallets that cannot be repaired?

Unusable pallets are dismantled and ground into mulch or fiber products, keeping wood out of landfills.

How fast can you schedule a pickup?

Most Seattle-area pickups are scheduled within 24–48 hours. We will confirm timing when you submit quantities and location.

Do you handle plastic or metal pallets?

We focus on wood pallets. We can advise on options for plastic or metal recycling through partner programs if needed.

Can you place a drop trailer for ongoing recycling?

Yes. For high-volume sites we provide drop trailers or regular route pickups to keep yards clear and organized.

Are wet or contaminated pallets accepted?

Light weathering is fine, but pallets with chemical contamination or severe mold require special handling—describe the condition and we will advise.
